Many of the conference presenters and panelists recommended using Kit for email newsletters rather than Mailchimp or Constant Contact.

The Complete AI-Powered Newsletter System: Idea to Inbox in 60 Minutes by Michael Hyatt

He says we should quit using ChatGPT and move to Claude.

He’s not going to teach us how to create a prompt or a task to crank out a month’s worth of newsletter posts while we’re sleeping. He thinks humans are still needed to write. He wants to help us write a good newsletter in an hour rather than the four hours it used to take him.

Use the desktop version of Claude to get access to Cowork.

Step 1: Start a new project. Call it Weekly Newsletter or something similar. Under Instructions, something like “this is my writing project.” You can upload files you want to train it on. Then you can have conversations inside the project. Don’t let your conversations with Claude run too long – it will start forgetting and drifting, but inside a project, it will do better.

Step 2: Pre-load your personal knowledge base. Your personal profile, your company overview (your website URL, social media account addresses, mission statement, brand guide, etc), your writing style (most important thing to teach it. Do you write in active voice or passive voice? Are there certain words you often use, and words you avoid using when you write?), and your ideal customer avatar.

Step 3: Create your Multi-prompt workflow.

Michael Hyatt’s workflow is:

1 Define the Problem

2 Research Keywords (for newsletter portion of website SEO)

3 Identify Anecdote – Start with a story

4 Write Premise – what’s the big idea for this newsletter?

5 Create Outline – work with the AI and correct it as you go. Structure helps make the newsletter memorable.

6 Draft Article –

7 Create a Hook

8 Brainstorm Titles

9 Create Image – he recommends Ideaogram and ChatGPT

10 Generate Social Campaign – He uses Publer for scheduling posts

Step 4: Iterate with AI to refine your content. (Iterate being defined here as repeating a process or action til you get things the way you want).

The Collaboration Process:

  • Claude Drafts
  • You Redirect
  • Claude Revises
  • You Tweak

(Claude does learn over time)

Step 5: Publish your polished newsletter. He recommends storing the newsletters somewhere (on your blog perhaps?) so people can find it due to your decent SEO.
